The Australian Drivers Championship returns to Globe Derby Park on Saturday, October 3, with each state nominating two drivers to wear their colours in the prestigious interstate series.

Adding further intrigue to this year’s championship, two drivers will be chasing a remarkable third title.

Western Australian star Gary Hall Jnr claimed his first championship in Hobart in 2019 before adding a second at Globe Derby Park in 2024.

Victorian ace James Herbertson will also be chasing title number three. Herbertson won the championship in South Australia in 2022 before securing his second crown in Hobart last year.

South Australia will be represented by brother-and-sister combination Wayne and Danielle Hill. Wayne already knows what it takes to win the title, having claimed the 2016 championship on his home track at Globe Derby Park.

Herbertson will be joined in the Victorian team by Mark Pitt, while New South Wales will be represented by talented teenager Jett Turnbull and Ashleigh Delosa.

Emily Suvaljko joins Hall in a strong Western Australian combination, while Dylan Ford and Jordan Chibnall will carry Tasmania’s hopes.

Queensland will be represented by Adam Sanderson and Angus Garrard, with the latter continuing to build an impressive record despite being only 23.

Garrard has already driven more than 1,100 career winners and will add an international assignment to his résumé later this year when he represents Australia in the Prix des Rencontres Internationales du Trotteur Français at the famous Vincennes circuit in Paris on December 4.

With some of Australia’s leading reinsmen and women coming together and two former champions chasing a historic third title, the Australian Drivers Championship promises to be one of the highlights of the season at Globe Derby Park and for South Australian harness racing.
