New Zealand Bloodstock’s fortnightly online sale, Gavelhouse Standardbreds, continues to prove a popular source of racing stock for Australian owners and trainers, with a growing number of winners emerging from the platform.
The latest is La Familia, who made an immediate impact on this side of the Tasman when scoring first-up at Menangle for trainer Jason Grimson.
The well-related mare, by champion sire Always B Miki (USA), was snapped up for just $1,300 through Gavelhouse’s late-July auction by leading owner Mick Boots and Grimson.
La Familia went through the online sale having won at Winton just four days earlier, making her bargain purchase price even more noteworthy.
Her first-up Menangle success provides another example of Australian connections finding value through the New Zealand online sales platform.
